Humane Emergency Animal Rescue
Humane Emergency Animal Rescue was founded in 2002 by a former fire department lieutenant/firefighter/paramedic to serve the emergency animal rescue needs in Miami-Dade county when the local humane society disbanded it’s long running rescue unit. Calls for life saving service went from 1 to 2 a week to an average of 7 a day within a year.
In 2006 our founder, the sole responder at the time, was injured during a rescue. The injury required eight and a half months to recover. During this time there were no other responders with the qualifications required to perform many of the animal rescues. Sadly the difficult decision was made to disband the organization.
Forward to 2022 and a chance encounter with a colleague during a large animal technical rescue training exercise, our founder was inspired to reactivate the organization. Now located in Broward county we are only taking calls for service from government agencies until we are better equipped to answer calls from the public.
