Animal Rescue- A Photographic History Vol. 1 No. 22

Photo one, 1942

Number 22. These two images are more evidence of the human-animal bond. Both show a human response to animals in need during a war. It’s amazing to think that while the Germans were bombing the UK people were thinking of their companion animals enough to risk life and limb to save them. I love knowing that and the people that did what they did to help animals then. The text associated with these images are minimal but have a lot to convey.

Photo one, 1942, London, Dog rescued from bombed house, Coram Street near Russell Square.

Photo two, April 1941, West of London, Ruiship Dog Sanctuary, Homeless dogs rescued from bombed buildings during the London blitz.
