“St Paul, Minn., Rescue workers load canine refugees from the St. Paul Humane Society animal shelter aboard an army duck. The animals had to be removed to higher ground as floodwaters surrounded the shelter. The flood reached a crest of 19.1 feet here yesterday.”
Note: a “duck” was a amphibious vehicle used by the army that could travel on land or water.
