Are you prepared for a sudden emergency or disaster situation? Watching the footage that was posted on YouTube almost immediately after the Maui wildfire was out I realized how unprepared most of the residents were. It was sad to see the near total destruction of the area. I wanted to start making videos at the time but was unable to confirm much of the information being reported about the animal situation on site.
I think I’ve watched about two to three hours of footage that was taken just hours after the fire had past while structures still burning to footage over the course of several days when it looked like there were no first responders working in the area. Some of the videos showed animals still alive in areas where there was still small fires burning as well as many animals who were killed lying in the streets.
I’ve waited until now to try and use some of the footage, notes and thoughts to try an raise awareness to the importance of being prepared. I did have trouble trying to organize it all right up to the time I recorded the video. Still not satisfied I have it perfect I couldn’t think of a better presentation as shown in the video.
It would have been easy to be hyper critical of the government response or be political but that would have not accomplished anything toward convincing people to get prepared. Preparedness it the sole point for making the video. I’m hoping it will wake the average resident up to the reality they are their own first responder and not to rely on the government for their wellbeing and safety.
The video footage, hopefully will make my points clear. I offered some ideas. Maybe some solutions. I want the video to get people to thinking about preparedness. Motivate them to prepare for their family and animals that will enable them to be more resilient and better able to handle whatever disaster or emergency that present itself.
