Advantage Clik Full Body Harness Product Review

Here’s a quick review of the now discontinued Advantage-Clik Class 3 full body harness for work, fall arrest or rescue that meets the NFPA 1983-2012 standard. There is a newer version called the Advantage-G2 that has improvements that are not covered in this review.

It is a full body one piece harness with an upper that is non-removable. It has four ISC Clik-Loc buckles that are 16 kn rated and an auto locking carabiner for quick donning. I choose an X-large sized for 5’9” – 6’8” height and waist 35” – 51” to fit with my usual duty wear that will expand to fit over bulky overalls or one of my many PPE coats.

There are web loops on the shoulders for vertical lifting, rigging points at the front, chest, 2 at the waist folded back great for work positioning and 1 in the back between the shoulder blades that can be used for fall arrest. There are 2 non-load bearing accessory equipment loops along the rear sides.

This harness is comfortable. I wore this for a training event that lasted for 40+ hours and never had an issue with comfort. There were no hot spots, pressure points or chaffing. It was easy to put on. Because it completely opens up with the many buckles and carabiner I didn’t have to put my feet though any part of the harness. Simply place the shoulder straps over my head then pull the harness into place and affix each buckle as I progressed. It takes about one minute. Once adjusted, all the points stayed in place with no movement. I’m very happy with it.  In the future I’ll consider the Advantage-G2 as a replacement.

Quick tip before I wrap this blog up. I’m top heavy so I tend to tip backward without someplace to stabilize my feet and legs. An example, during a pick-off. Something I found helpful is attach a prusik hitch to the chest rigging ring, or an ascender to the main rope under tension and it helped keep me upright. This is not a problem limited to the Advantage-Clik. Other rescuer’s encounter the same problem no matter what harness they’re wearing. Maybe you’ll find this info useful.

If you’re considering purchasing a harness check out the Advantge-G2.
This one was purchased at Rescue Technology. This review is based on my personal experience. I’m not getting paid to publish my review. I purchased this harness out of pocket when it was on sale. The opinions expressed are genuine.
