Read all about it- No. 1

“Read all about it” will be the title for our organization updates and news into the future.

I know it’s not very original. However it is simple and to the point. Like most things I do when possible. If someone supports this organization or is just curious I feel it’s important to keep everyone informed.

My intension is to post a blog each Monday like this one covering organization updates or news that might be relevant. There will be other blogs posted on Mondays that will be subject specific. It might be a product review geared toward animal rescue personnel, a training event or any number of different topics.

Over the last few weeks I’ve been working on writing blogs and recording videos that can be scheduled for future postings. This will allow me to have time for generating the funds needed to reactivate the organization with the state and IRS. Currently the state of Florida wants over $1500.00 for a reactivation. Trying to get a straight answer from the IRS was a waste of time. After spending a half hour on the phone I was no closer to finding out how much they wanted for a reactivation. Doesn’t matter since the first reactivation priority will be the Florida one.

I’m starting to feel the pressure of getting the organization in-service and on the road answering calls for help. In the last few weeks there was a pig loose no one was responding to. A horse struck by a car at the entrance to my neighborhood. Local fire departments reporting finding animals in need of medical care while conducting searches at structure fires. What can I say, it’s frustrating not having the capabilities to respond when I know what is happening with the animals.

I have the experience and some of the equipment necessary to respond but not a vehicle to transport them with. I have my 4Runner but I can’t properly contain animals in it. There’s no room for crates. To get started I’ll be looking for a pickup truck with a utility bed that can be covered with a camper shell or a Type 2 van ambulance. At least one vehicle has to be able to tow a horse trailer. This is getting into a future blog so I’ll stop here.

Update: 1 JUN 2023
During the last couple weeks of July I recorded several videos and blogs covering the Rope Rescue Technician, Southeastern Extrication School experience and rescue personal protective equipment used during the events. 23 videos and announcement blogs were also recorded during that time.

Over the last 5 days I’ve recorded and edited most of the 96 videos for the Animal Rescue Postmortem series. We have enough to last for the next two years posting them on the second and fourth Tuesday and Thursday of each month. I still need to finish editing, converting, then uploading them to YouTube. The blog announcements will also have to be written and scheduled.

I hope you like our homemade, low budget, blog cover image. Hey, what do you expect from my limited art talent?

Watch for our blog post so you can keep up to date.
