Product Review- Ringers Extrication Gloves

Extrication requires many things, one of those is gloves.

This review is based on my experience wearing these gloves while training for Heavy-Lifting & Extrication and Tractor-Machinery Extrication.

The Ringers Extrication gloves were ordered from Rescue Tech 1. These are model R-314, extra large, short cuff. From the website “Tough Armortex reinforced index finger and thumb, Clarino palm and finger material, Elastic cuff keeps out cut glass, Reflective Schoeller padded knuckle, Anatomically designed palm pads.” This description seems to differ from the gloves I received. Also the photo on the website shows a glove with a different palm and knuckle guard configuration.

I’ll start with the cons. The only issue I had with the glove is the palm material. While it showed no wear, abrasion or cuts and seems very durable the one issue I had was the material was slippery. Tools without knurling or grips were hard to grip. Surfaces like vehicle hoods, roofs or any sheet metal with dust or moisture became hard to maneuver on or keep stable. Especially if they were at an angle. I like the material durability but would like to see it also have better gripping ability.

The pros. Size is spot on for my extra large hands. They’re not too tight or too loose. They kept my hands comfortable from the cold windy weather. Worn two days in a row for 8 hour time blocks there was no discomfort, hot spots or anything to annoy me.

A feature I find highly valuable are the knuckle and finger guards. Anyone who has had their knuckles suddenly smash into a hard object while under tension will appreciate a buffer to reduce the impact.

Not sure I’d like it at first glance the cuff design grew on me as I used the gloves. I’d prefer most gloves have the elastic cuff design. The problem with that is I have to grasp the cuff at the elastic gathered edge to pull it onto the hand.

This design lets the fingers grasp an edge away from the gathered part to pull them on. As the gloves became covered in dirt, vehicle fluids and more I was able to put them on without contaminating the cuff that was in contact with my wrist.

Comfortable, durable, affordable. They’ll be part of my extrication PPE for a long time. I would purchase these again.
